The God of Peace

We live in a fast-paced world where many lack the most basic sense of peace and rest. We turn on our TV and hear yet another report of war and conflict between nations. Perhaps more than ever before, the world needs to know the wellbeing and security that come from knowing the God of Peace: Yahweh Shalom in the Hebrew and Theos Eirēnē in the Greek. If we allow Him to reign in our lives, we can know Him as Śar Shalom - the Prince of Peace.

After 17 days of teaching in Germany, I fly back to Spain today. I'm packing my suitcase this morning, so I don't have time to write a blog post... but I'll let you look into my journal and join me in this morning's reflection on what it means to know the God of Peace.
(Just click on the pages to make them large enough to read.)

There are far too many things today - people and circumstances - that can steal our peace. My goal for the week ahead is to be much more intentional in drawing near to Yahweh Shalom and allowing His supernatural peace to reign in my heart.

Paul told the Philippians (Philippians 4: 6 - 7) that if we:
  1. refuse to worry
  2. stay thankful, and
  3. make our requests known to God in prayer,
then the peace of God - eirēnē Theos - will fill and guard both our hearts (emotions) and minds (thoughts). It's a promise we can all experience for ourselves.
